The following are Community Service Programs offered at Stiles Hall:

Stiles Hall Mentoring and Tutoring Programs

Stiles Hall has been assisting low income, inner city youth to stay in school and excel for over sixty-five years. It is unlikely that any other agency in the state, or perhaps the nation, has more experience in fostering long term mentoring relationships with low income, inner city youth.

Currently, Stiles Hall provides 250 very low income, inner-city youth from Berkeley and Oakland with 250 carefully screened, highly supervised U.C. volunteer mentors/tutors annually. The youth recieve 100 to 150 hours, of mentoring, tutoring, and role modeling, in addition to regular parental contact, teacher consultation, and activities to broaden the youths' cultural and academic horizons. Teachers in a recent professional evaluation stated that over 50% of the youth had improved their grades as a result of involvement in the program.
