Pathways Coaching Program
Pathways Coaching provides comprehensive academic and social support for Black and Latinx elementary and middle school students in Berkeley and El Cerrito, increasing their academic engagement, college readiness, and leadership skills.

The Pathways Coaching Program is offered cost-free to program participants thanks to the generous financial support from the City of Berkeley, Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, and the Bernard E. & Alba Witkin Charitable Foundation.
As a Pathways Coach you will:
-Collaborate with a cohort of volunteers committed to educational equity
-Meet weekly with your student at their school site to provide academic support, social-emotional coaching and college awareness
-Participate in monthyl trainings and reflection sessions to grow your own skills as an educator and mentor
Pathways Coaching is designed to fit your own schedule as a UC Berkeley student. You can participate as:
–A Volunteer: contribute your time for community service hours
–1-2 Units: earn academic credit for your hours
–Fieldwork placement: fulfull required fieldwork hours through your department (Education, Social Welfare, Public Health, Psychology, Sociology, and more). Stiles Hall is an approved fieldworksite.
You don’t need any prior experience, just a passion for education and a genuine belief that every student deserves someone in their corner. We especially welcome students who are:
-Passionate about educational equity
-First-generation college students themselves
-Studying Education, Social Welfare, Public Health, Psychology, Sociology or related fields
-Experience tutoring in Math or STEM related subjects
-Looking to complete fieldwork or community service hours
