Berkeley Basic Needs

We support with all the essential resources needed to not only survive, but thrive here at UC Berkeley.

We define Basic Needs as the essential resources that impact your holistic health, belonging, persistence, and overall well-being.

Whether you’re a graduate student, undergraduate student, staff, or faculty, our mission is to support you as we work together towards justice and belonging for all.

Berkeley Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)

The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) provides students who identify as first-generation, low-income, and/or historically underrepresented college students with the guidance, support, and resources to succeed at Berkeley and take meaningful steps toward achieving their personal and professional goals.

Our academic counseling staff work alongside amazing student peer advisors who seek to transform the experiences of EOP students.

Berkeley Undocumented Student Program (USP)

USP practices a holistic, multicultural and solution-focused approach that delivers individualized service for each student.

The academic counseling, legal support, financial aid resources and extensive campus referral network provided by USP helps students develop the unique gifts and talents they each bring to the university, while empowering a sense of belonging. The program’s mission is to support the advancement of undocumented students within higher education and promote pathways for engaged scholarship.
